Air pollution levels in China are among the most dangerous in the world. Partnered with CSIS, Seven Mile Media produced a data visualization to provide deeper insight into this potentially lethal issue. Using the EPA’s Air Quality Index data, we plotted measures of air pollution and average rainfall in select Chinese cities on an interactive heat map and adjoining histogram. Interacting with the controls allows the user to animate the chart, visualizing data from different cities and years.
